EGX SeriesJacketed - Heated Fluid

Jacketed External Gear Pumpfor Bitumen, Tar, Wax and Heated Viscous Fluid Transfer

Steam / thermic fluid jacket · up to 25,000 cSt · up to 10 Bar · ASME B16.5 Class 150

The EGX-BJ jacketed external gear pump from Shubham Industries is designed for viscous liquids that solidify, gel, or become unpumpable at ambient temperature. A casing jacket circulates steam or thermic fluid to maintain safe pumping temperature. It is used for bitumen, asphalt, tar, furnace oil, RFO, wax, starch, molasses, naphtha, silicate, and soap solution.

Startup Temperature - Read Before Ordering

Never start a jacketed gear pump with cold or solidified fluid in the casing, suction line, or discharge line. The complete liquid path must reach safe pumping temperature before motor start. Confirm startup temperature, heating method, viscosity, pressure, and motor HP with Shubham Industries engineers before quotation.

All EGX pages belong to the external gear pump family. Final variant and size are selected after confirming liquid, viscosity, temperature, flow, pressure, and MOC compatibility.

Jacketed Heating

Why Bitumen, Tar and Wax Need a Jacketed Gear Pump

Solidifying fluids can lock a standard gear pump if the casing, suction line, or discharge line is cold. A jacketed gear pump uses steam or thermic fluid around the casing to maintain liquid path temperature before and during transfer. Startup viscosity, heating method, line heating, pressure, and motor HP must be reviewed together.

Jacket Mechanism

Steam or thermic fluid circulates through the jacket to keep the pump casing warm enough for viscous flow.

Startup Safety Procedure

The complete liquid path must reach safe pumping temperature before the motor starts.

ASME B16.5 Flange Standard

Jacketed EGX-BJ uses ASME B16.5 Class 150 flanged connection for heated transfer packages.

Five Startup Checks

Confirm operating temperature, startup temperature, heating method, where the fluid solidifies, and motor HP before quotation. Never start cold.

Applications

Applications and Suitability

EGX-BJ is selected for fluids that need heating to stay pumpable through the casing, suction line, and discharge line.

Bitumen and Asphalt

Heated transfer where cold startup can cause lock-up, shaft damage, and motor overload.

Tar and Pitch

Jacketed casing review for high-viscosity heated transfer.

Furnace Oil and RFO

Heated viscous fuel transfer with startup temperature and motor HP review.

Wax

Solidifying wax transfer where line and casing heating are critical.

Starch and Molasses

Viscous product transfer after confirming pumping temperature and viscosity.

Naphtha, Silicate, Soap Solution

Application review required for liquid behavior, temperature, and MOC.

Startup Safety Warning

Do not allow instant selection without operating and startup temperature. Ask whether line and pump are steam jacketed, thermic-fluid jacketed, or electrically heated. Confirm where liquid solidifies. Motor HP review is mandatory. Never start before the liquid path reaches safe pumping temperature.

Selection Guide

EGX-BJ vs Other EGX Variants

EGX-BJ vs Standard EGX

Use jacketed EGX when cold or solidifying fluid would lock a standard gear pump.

View Standard EGX

EGX-BJ vs EGX-RN

Use EGX-RN for large flanged transfer where heating is not required.

EGX-BJ vs TFC

TFC is for thermic fluid circulation; EGX-BJ is for heated viscous product transfer.
