CPP Series

Chemical Polypropylene Pumpfor Corrosive Acid and Alkali Transfer

PP-C construction - acid/alkali transfer - bakelite cooling plate standard

The CPP Series horizontal polypropylene centrifugal pump from Shubham Industries, Ahmedabad, is designed for transferring corrosive acids, alkalis, and aggressive process chemicals where stainless steel construction is not chemically compatible with the liquid. The pump casing and impeller are manufactured from copolymer polypropylene (PP-C), which resists a wide range of dilute to moderate concentration acids and alkalis. A bakelite cooling plate is supplied as standard to provide thermal and electrical isolation between motor and pump. The CPP is rated for operating temperatures up to 60°C and is available in bare pump and monoblock configurations. Manufactured at the Shubham Industries facility in Kuha, Ahmedabad, Gujarat - ISO 9001:2015 certified since 1987.

Applications

Where the CPP Series Chemical Pump Is Used

The CPP Series is used in industrial plants where process liquids are corrosive to standard metals and stainless steel construction is not suitable. It handles dilute to moderate concentration acids, alkalis, and aggressive chemical liquids in chemical process, effluent treatment, and manufacturing industries.

Phosphoric Acid Plants

Transfer and circulation of phosphoric acid in fertiliser and chemical manufacturing. PP-C construction handles phosphoric acid at moderate concentrations and temperatures up to 60°C.

Caustic Soda Plants

Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) and caustic potash (potassium hydroxide) transfer and circulation. PP-C offers broad alkali resistance subject to concentration and temperature.

Gas Washing Plants

Scrubbing liquid circulation in gas washing and scrubber systems where corrosive absorbent solutions are handled continuously.

Rayon and Fibre Plants

Chemical liquid transfer in viscose rayon and synthetic fibre manufacturing where corrosive process chemicals are used.

Effluent Treatment

Corrosive effluent transfer and circulation in ETP plants handling acidic or alkaline waste streams.

General Chemical Transfer

Transfer of corrosive process chemicals, acid dosing, alkali circulation, and salt solution handling where PP-C is compatible with the liquid.

Chemical Compatibility Must Be Confirmed

Copolymer polypropylene is not universally resistant to all chemicals. PP-C is generally not suitable for aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, and xylene, chlorinated solvents, or strongly oxidising acids at high concentrations. Operating temperature must not exceed 60°C continuously for PP-C wetted parts. Chemical compatibility also depends on the seal material selected - PTFE bellow seal provides broader chemical resistance than standard mechanical seal. Always share the exact chemical name, concentration, and temperature with Shubham Industries engineers before finalising pump selection.

Chemical Suitability

What Chemicals Can the CPP Pump Handle?

Copolymer polypropylene (PP-C) construction provides resistance to a wide range of corrosive chemicals at moderate concentrations and temperatures up to 60°C. The following guidance covers general suitability categories - exact compatibility must always be confirmed for the specific chemical, concentration, and temperature before selection.

Generally Handled - Subject to Confirmation

  • Dilute to moderate hydrochloric acid (HCl)
  • Dilute to moderate sulphuric acid (H2SO4)
  • Phosphoric acid (H3PO4)
  • Sodium hydroxide / caustic soda (NaOH)
  • Potassium hydroxide / caustic potash (KOH)
  • Salt solutions and brine
  • Ferric chloride and ferrous sulphate solutions
  • Sodium hypochlorite (dilute)
  • Many inorganic acids and alkalis at moderate concentration

Generally Not Suitable

  • Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, xylene)
  • Chlorinated solvents (chloroform, DCM, carbon tetrachloride)
  • Ketones (acetone, MEK)
  • Concentrated oxidising acids (fuming H2SO4, concentrated HNO3)
  • Temperatures above 60°C continuous
  • Strong organic solvents

Need a pump for temperatures above 60°C or chemicals not listed above?

Shubham Industries can review alternative pump series for higher temperature chemical duty or chemicals outside the PP-C compatibility range. PVDF, CPVC, or other polymer constructions may be available on request for specific duties. Share the chemical name, concentration, temperature, and flow/head requirement for an engineering review.

Discuss Custom Requirement

Compatibility guidance is indicative only and based on general PP-C material properties. Final compatibility must be confirmed for the specific chemical, concentration, and temperature before pump selection and ordering.

Selection Guide

CPP Chemical Pump vs Other Series

Selecting between the CPP polypropylene pump and other pump series depends on the liquid chemistry, operating temperature, and whether stainless steel or polymer construction is more appropriate for the duty.

Selection comparison

CPP vs SCC - Polymer vs Stainless Steel

The CPP handles corrosive chemicals where PP-C polymer construction resists the liquid at temperatures up to 60°C. The SCC stainless steel centrifugal pump handles process liquids at pH 4-10 with temperatures up to 120°C where SS316 is chemically compatible. Choose CPP when concentrated acids or alkalis make stainless steel unsuitable. Choose SCC when the process requires higher temperature, higher head, or stainless steel is compatible with the liquid.

Selection comparison

CPP vs SCS - Chemical Duty vs Sanitary Duty

The CPP is designed for corrosive chemical transfer where polymer construction is required. The SCS Sanitary Centrifugal Pump is a stainless steel hygienic pump designed for food, dairy, and pharmaceutical duty where hygienic surface finish and CIP compatibility are required. These are different pump categories for different duties - CPP is never a substitute for SCS in food or pharma applications.

Selection comparison

CPP vs Lined Pump - For Higher Chemical Severity

For highly aggressive chemical duties beyond the PP-C compatibility range - including fuming acids, strong oxidisers, or halogenated solvents - fluoropolymer-lined pumps (PVDF or PTFE-lined) provide broader chemical resistance. Shubham Industries can review alternative pump specifications for these duties on request.

Selection comparison

CPP vs CMB - Chemical vs General Utility

The CPP polypropylene pump is specifically for corrosive chemical duty. The CMB Centrifugal Monoblock is a cast iron pump for general water and non-corrosive utility duty at lower cost. The CMB is not suitable for any corrosive chemical application.
