SPX Series

Self-Priming Pumpfor Chemicals, Fuels and Clear Process Liquids

Investment cast CF-8m · Regenerative impeller · Self-primes to 8 m · Single and multi-stage · Up to 80°C

The SPX Series self-priming pump from Shubham Industries, Ahmedabad, is designed for clear liquid transfer - chemicals, diesel, petrol, LPG, solvents, DM water, syrup, condensate, and process liquids without solid suspensions. Unlike standard centrifugal pumps, the SPX self-primes without a foot valve from suction lifts up to 8 meters, using a centripetal and regenerative impeller that delivers better suction characteristics than a standard centrifugal design. All wetted parts are investment cast using the lost wax process - providing a superior smooth flow path with no blow holes, cracks, or casting defects. Available in CF-8m (SS316 equivalent), CF-8 (SS304 equivalent), Gun metal, and Alloy-20. Single-stage and multi-stage configurations available for high pressure duty. Manufactured at Kuha, Ahmedabad, Gujarat - ISO 9001:2015 certified since 1987.

How It Works

How the SPX Regenerative Impeller Self-Priming Pump Transfers Difficult Liquids

A standard centrifugal pump cannot pump air. It needs a foot valve and a fully primed suction line to start. The SPX removes this requirement with two design advances: first, the casing retains liquid after shutdown, allowing automatic re-priming on restart without a foot valve from suction lifts up to 8 meters; second, the centripetal and regenerative impeller - unlike a standard radial impeller - imparts multiple energy pulses to the liquid as it passes through the impeller channels, building pressure more gradually with significantly better suction characteristics for low-flow, high-head, and difficult-to-prime applications.

Investment Casting - Superior Surface Finish

All wetted parts are produced using the lost wax process (investment casting). This eliminates the blow holes, shrinkage cracks, and surface roughness common in sand-cast components. The result is a smooth, defect-free hydraulic passage that reduces friction losses and is easier to keep clean - important when pumping solvents, chemicals, and aggressive process liquids.

Centripetal / Regenerative Impeller

The regenerative impeller design imparts energy to the liquid in multiple stages around the impeller periphery - unlike a standard centrifugal impeller which applies force once. This gives the SPX significantly better suction head, lower NPSH requirement, and more stable performance at low flow rates and high heads - making it suitable for drum and barrel pumping, boiler feed, and condensate recovery.

Multi-Stage for High Pressure

When a single stage cannot deliver the required head at low flow, the SPX is available in multi-stage configuration - each stage adds to the total head. This allows the SPX to reach heads up to 60 meters in standard configurations at compact pipe sizes of 12 mm to 40 mm - suitable for high-pressure dosing, boiler feed, and pressure boosting.

Applications

Where the SPX Series Self-Priming Pump Is Used

The SPX Series handles clear liquids without solid suspensions - diesel, petrol, LPG, solvents, DM water, chemicals, syrup, condensate, and clear process fluids. It is the correct specification when self-priming capability, investment cast construction, and chemical or fuel duty are required together. Not suitable for liquids containing solids or suspended particles - see SPA or SPM for dirty water duty.

Fuels and Petroleum

Diesel, petrol, kerosene, fuel oil, LPG, and light petroleum product transfer. Drum and barrel pump duty for fuel dispensing. FLP flameproof motor required for classified hazardous areas. Confirm flash point and temperature before ordering.

Chemicals and Solvents

Solvents, thinners, and clear chemical process liquid transfer. Chemical dosing and circulation. DM water and RO water. Process chemicals within CF-8m/CF-8 compatibility range. Confirm concentration, pH, and temperature with engineers.

Oils (Low Viscosity)

Light lubricating oil, mineral oil, hydraulic oil (light grades), and vegetable oil (low viscosity, clear). SPX is suitable for low-viscosity oils only - for viscous oils above 50 cP, specify LBX Lobe Pump.

Utilities and Process

Steam boiler feed water - clean, de-aerated water supply. Condensate water evacuation and recovery. Pressure boosting in process lines. DM water and pure water transfer. Cooling water circulation (clean).

Food and Syrup

Clear syrups, liquid sugar, and fluid food products without solids. Investment cast surface finish and CF-8m construction suit clear liquid transfer. For hygienic duty with GMP finish and tri-clover connections, specify SCS Series.

Industrial and Special

Paint and resin transfer (clear, low viscosity). Solvent recovery with FLP motor in hazardous areas. Custom duty with special MOC on request. High pressure duty in multi-stage form. Portable transfer in trolley mounted format.

Selection Guide

SPX Self-Priming Pump vs Other Series

The SPX handles clear liquids with chemical and fuel compatibility - the right pump when investment cast construction, self-priming, and chemical duty coincide. Below are the most common selection decisions.

SPX vs SPA/SPM - Clear Liquid vs Dirty Water Self-Priming

All three - SPX, SPA, and SPM - are self-priming pumps that operate without a foot valve. The critical difference is the liquid. SPX handles clear liquids only: chemicals, fuels, solvents, DM water, and clear process fluids with investment cast CF-8m/CF-8 wetted parts. SPA and SPM handle dirty water, mud, slurry, and solids in cast iron construction. Never substitute SPX for dirty water duty, or SPA/SPM for chemical or fuel duty.

SPX vs SCC - Self-Priming Small Flow vs High-Flow Industrial Centrifugal

The SCC is a stainless steel centrifugal pump for large flow industrial chemical and process duty - high flow, flanged connections, requires priming. The SPX self-primes without a foot valve, uses a regenerative impeller for better low-flow and high-head performance, and is available in multi-stage for pressure duties the SCC does not cover. Choose SPX for self-priming, low flow, high head, or drum and barrel pump duty. Choose SCC for large flow industrial process transfer.

SPX vs CPP - Investment Cast Stainless vs Full Chemical Resistance Polypropylene

The SPX in CF-8m covers a wide range of chemical and fuel duties. For highly corrosive concentrated acids and alkalis beyond stainless steel compatibility, the CPP Chemical Polypropylene Pump provides resistance across pH 0-14. CPP is not self-priming by default. Choose SPX when self-priming and investment cast construction are required. Choose CPP when chemical aggressiveness exceeds CF-8m limits.

SPX vs SCS - Chemical/Fuel vs Hygienic Sanitary Duty

No meaningful overlap. The SPX is a self-priming investment cast pump for chemical, fuel, and clear process liquid duty - not a hygienic pump. The SCS is an SS316L sanitary centrifugal pump for food, dairy, and pharmaceutical GMP process lines with polished surfaces and tri-clover connections. Do not substitute one for the other.
