The SPM Series self-priming centrifugal pump from Shubham Industries, Ahmedabad, is designed for dewatering, sewage pumping, slurry transfer, and the handling of liquids containing solids, sand, mud, and suspended particles. Unlike standard centrifugal pumps, the SPM primes automatically without a foot valve, drawing liquid from a suction lift up to 8 meters, making it the correct specification for construction site dewatering, drainage, agricultural irrigation, bilge duty, and anywhere a foot valve is impractical. The SPM handles solids up to 40 mm, flows up to 75 LPS (4500 LPM), and heads up to 47 meters. Available in monoblock, belt driven, engine driven, and trolley mounted configurations. How It Works

How the SPM Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump Operates Without a Foot Valve

A standard centrifugal pump cannot pump air; it must be fully primed before starting, which normally requires a foot valve to hold water in the suction pipe. The SPM Series removes this requirement with a casing that retains a small volume of liquid after shutdown. When the pump restarts, this liquid mixes with air in the suction pipe, creating an air-water mixture that the impeller can evacuate and drawing liquid up automatically from suction lift up to 8 meters.

No Foot Valve Required

The SPM retains priming liquid in the casing after shutdown. On restart, automatic air release through the casing draws suction without a foot valve, reducing failure points and valve maintenance.

Handles Solids and Dirty Liquid

The open impeller design and large clearances allow particles up to 40 mm to pass through without blockage in construction site water, sewage, slurry, and sand-laden liquid.

Designed for Field and Site Conditions

The pump can sit high and dry with the suction hose in the liquid. Back pull-out construction allows impeller and seal access without disturbing pipe connections.

For highly corrosive concentrated acids or alkalis beyond the compatibility of cast iron, specify CPP Chemical Polypropylene Pump. For viscous fluids above 50 cP, specify LBX Lobe Pump or SCS.
