No Foot Valve Required
The SPM retains priming liquid in the casing after shutdown. On restart, automatic air release through the casing draws suction without a foot valve, reducing failure points and valve maintenance.
Self-priming centrifugal · Cast iron construction · Solids up to 40 mm · Without foot valve
The SPM Series self-priming centrifugal pump from Shubham Industries, Ahmedabad, is designed for dewatering, sewage pumping, slurry transfer, and the handling of liquids containing solids, sand, mud, and suspended particles. Unlike standard centrifugal pumps, the SPM primes automatically without a foot valve, drawing liquid from a suction lift up to 8 meters, making it the correct specification for construction site dewatering, drainage, agricultural irrigation, bilge duty, and anywhere a foot valve is impractical. The SPM handles solids up to 40 mm, flows up to 75 LPS (4500 LPM), and heads up to 47 meters. Available in monoblock, belt driven, engine driven, and trolley mounted configurations. Manufactured at Kuha, Ahmedabad, Gujarat - ISO 9001:2015 certified since 1987.

How It Works
A standard centrifugal pump cannot pump air; it must be fully primed before starting, which normally requires a foot valve to hold water in the suction pipe. The SPM Series removes this requirement with a casing that retains a small volume of liquid after shutdown. When the pump restarts, this liquid mixes with air in the suction pipe, creating an air-water mixture that the impeller can evacuate and drawing liquid up automatically from suction lift up to 8 meters.
The SPM retains priming liquid in the casing after shutdown. On restart, automatic air release through the casing draws suction without a foot valve, reducing failure points and valve maintenance.
The open impeller design and large clearances allow particles up to 40 mm to pass through without blockage in construction site water, sewage, slurry, and sand-laden liquid.
The pump can sit high and dry with the suction hose in the liquid. Back pull-out construction allows impeller and seal access without disturbing pipe connections.
Configure SPM Series
The SPM Series is available in five drive configurations: monoblock, motor coupled, belt driven, engine driven, and trolley or trailer mounted. Engine driven and trolley mounted options are common for construction and agricultural duty where grid power is not available.

Applications
The SPM Series is used wherever standard centrifugal pumps fail: dirty water, solids-laden liquids, sewage, slurry, construction site dewatering, and remote duty where a foot valve is impractical. Its self-priming capability and solid handling make it suitable for site engineers, contractors, agricultural operators, and municipal maintenance teams.
Dewatering excavations, basements, trenches, construction sites, well point systems, canals, ponds, flood drainage, sewage pumping, and water supply for concreting or hosing.
Surface irrigation, liquid manure oxygenation, liquid fertiliser transfer and spraying, distribution of animal liquid feed, and remote field duty with engine driven options.
Sump pumping, cooling water circulation, cutting and quenching fluid circulation, neutralising liquid dosage, settled sludge pumping, smoke scrubbing, and emergency duty.
Bilge pumping, loading and unloading, washing, fire fighting, stripping, brine or sea water intake, and circulation in marine and port facilities.
Hot or corrosive waste water with sand, mud, or solids in suspension, dosing neutralising liquids, and sludge removal from settling tanks and sumps.
Engine driven trolley or trailer mounted units for emergency dewatering, fire fighting support, remote site water supply, and inter-site transfer.
For food, dairy, or pharmaceutical fluid transfer, specify SCS Sanitary Centrifugal Pump. For clean water supply in buildings and irrigation at low cost, specify CMB Centrifugal Monoblock. For highly corrosive concentrated acids or alkalis beyond the compatibility of cast iron, specify CPP Chemical Polypropylene Pump. For viscous fluids above 50 cP, specify LBX Lobe Pump or SCS. For submerged installation, specify OWS openwell submersible. Confirm chemical compatibility, particle size, and pH range with Shubham Industries engineers before finalising selection.
Design Features
The SPM Series combines self-priming capability, large solid handling, and simple field-serviceable design in a cast iron construction suitable for tough site and industrial conditions. These features make it fast to deploy, easy to maintain, and effective where standard centrifugal pumps fail.
Primes automatically without a foot valve from suction lifts up to 8 meters, reducing installation complexity and foot valve maintenance.
Impeller and seal can be accessed without disconnecting suction or delivery pipework, minimising downtime for site maintenance.
Handles solid particles up to 40 mm in size, covering sand, silt, gravel, and construction site debris in the pumped liquid.
Replaceable wear plates are standard. Ceramic coating is available for abrasive duty where sand and grit accelerate wear.
Mechanical seal and minimal moving parts reduce failure points and make field repair faster with fewer spare parts.
Available as monoblock, coupled, belt driven, engine driven, and trolley or trailer mounted for grid, off-grid, and mobile duty.
Selection Guide
The SPM is a specialised self-priming solids-handling centrifugal pump. Choosing the correct pump requires matching the primary application, not just the flow and head. The comparisons below cover the most common selection decisions.
Compare duty
The CMB is a standard centrifugal monoblock pump for clean water supply, irrigation, and building water distribution. It requires priming or flooded suction and cannot handle solids, sand, mud, or sewage. The SPM self-primes without a foot valve, handles solids up to 40 mm, and is designed for dirty water, dewatering, and site duty.
View CMB SeriesCompare duty
The SCC is a stainless steel centrifugal pump for clean or mildly contaminated process chemicals and water treatment duty. It requires priming, does not handle significant solids, and is not designed for site dewatering or sewage. For clean chemical duty, review SCC. For site, sewage, and solids duty, specify SPM.
View SCC SeriesCompare duty
The SPM in cast iron handles dirty water, mild acids, dilute caustic, and liquids with solids in suspension. For highly corrosive concentrated acids or alkalis beyond cast iron compatibility, CPP is the better chemical-duty series subject to chemical compatibility, concentration, and temperature review.

No meaningful overlap. The SPM is a cast iron self-priming pump for dirty water, sewage, slurry, and construction site duty. The SCS is a stainless sanitary centrifugal pump for food, dairy, and pharmaceutical fluid transfer with polished surfaces and tri-clover connections.

A self-priming centrifugal pump is a centrifugal pump with a specially designed casing that retains a small volume of liquid after shutdown. When the pump is restarted, this retained liquid mixes with air in the suction pipe and is discharged, creating suction that draws liquid up automatically without a foot valve and without manual priming. The SPM Series from Shubham Industries primes automatically from a suction lift of up to 8 meters, making it suitable for installation in sumps, pits, and site conditions where foot valves are impractical.
