The ADD Series air operated double diaphragm pump from Shubham Industries, Ahmedabad, is a sealless positive displacement pump driven entirely by compressed air. With no electric motor at the pump, no mechanical seal, and no rotating shaft through the liquid chamber, it handles corrosive chemicals, abrasives, viscous products, solids-laden fluids, solvents, food liquids, sludge, and industrial transfer duties with lower leakage risk than conventional sealed pumps. The published series covers up to 1000 LPM, up to 120 PSI / 8.3 Bar, dry suction lift up to 8.3 m, solids up to 9.5 mm, and port sizes from 1/2 inch to 3 inch. Body MOC options include PP, PVDF, Aluminium, SS304, SS316, SS304L, and SS316L, with diaphragm options in Teflon, Santoprene, and Neoprene. Manufactured at Kuha, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, ISO 9001:2015 certified since 1987.

How It Works

How the ADD Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pump Transfers Fluid Without a Seal or Motor

Dry compressed air enters the air valve and drives the two diaphragms alternately. One diaphragm creates the delivery stroke while the other creates suction. Four ball valves work as non-return valves so the fluid moves in one direction only. Because the liquid side is isolated by the diaphragm, there is no mechanical seal and no rotating shaft through the wetted chamber.

01

No Seal - No Leakage Path

The diaphragms separate fluid from the air side, so there is no rotating shaft passing through a seal chamber. That removes the main leakage path found in sealed motor-driven pumps.

02

Alternating Diaphragm Strokes

Compressed air is directed alternately to each diaphragm. One side delivers fluid while the opposite side creates suction and draws in the next charge of liquid.

03

1:1 Air Pressure to Discharge Pressure

The pump develops discharge pressure based on available compressed air. More air pressure gives more discharge pressure, and more air volume increases stroke rate and flow.

MOC Selection

ADD Series Body and Diaphragm Material Selection Guide

MOC confirmation is mandatory. Always share fluid name, concentration, temperature, solids, and suction condition before ADD body, diaphragm, and NRV ball selection is finalized.

Body MOC
PPGeneral acids, alkalis, solvents, and water where polypropylene compatibility is suitable.
PVDFAggressive chemicals, oxidizing acids, and halogenated solvents where stronger chemical resistance is needed.
AluminiumGeneral industrial, non-corrosive, oil, and water-transfer duty.
SS304Food, beverage, water, and mild process fluids.
SS316 / SS316LChemical, pharmaceutical, and corrosive process duty.
Diaphragm / NRV Ball MOC
Teflon (PTFE)Aggressive chemicals, solvents, acids, and highly reactive fluids.
SantopreneFood, beverage, and pharmaceutical duty where flexible food-grade elastomer is preferred.
Neoprene / BunaGeneral industrial, oils, water, and mild chemical service.
Connection Guide
1/2 inch portThreaded BSP connection commonly used on the smallest ADD sizes.
1 inch and aboveThreaded or flanged connection depending on body construction and duty.

ATEX/CE symbols may appear in brochure graphics, but site classification and applicable certification must be verified before specifying ADD for hazardous-area installation. Do not assume blanket ATEX certification.

Applications

What the ADD Series Air Diaphragm Pump Transfers

Chemical and Acid Transfer

Sealless compressed-air transfer of corrosive chemicals, acids, alkalis, and aggressive process liquids where mechanical-seal leakage risk must be reduced.

Food, Beverage, and Pharmaceutical

Liquids, creams, compounds, drinks, and process fluids where stainless body and Santoprene or PTFE diaphragm selection are required.

Paint, Ink, Dyes, and Resins

Ink, dyes, thinners, paints, emulsions, pigments, resins, and adhesive-related fluid movement in printing and formulation plants.

Abrasive Slurry and Mining

Clay slip, titanium dioxide, slurry, grout, mill scale, cement, and mineral-duty transfer with solids handling capability up to 9.5 mm.

Oil, Grease, and Petroleum

Petrol, diesel, hydraulic oil, lube oil, cutting oil, and related industrial fluids where no motor at the pump is a practical advantage.

Sludge, Sewage, and Effluent

Municipal and industrial sludge, sewage, coal slurry, lime slurry, and effluent duty where solids would challenge conventional centrifugal pump designs.

When ADD May Not Be the Right Choice

ADD requires compressed air at the installation site. For very high head beyond 8.3 Bar, specify HPD. For large continuous high-flow utility transfer, use centrifugal series such as SCH, SCC, or CMB as appropriate. For very high viscosity beyond the practical air-diaphragm range, confirm whether PCS is the better fit.

Selection Guide

ADD vs Other Positive Displacement and Utility Pump Series

ADD vs Centrifugal

ADD is chosen when sealless air-driven transfer, run-dry safety, abrasive handling, solids passage, or no-electricity-at-pump installation is more important than centrifugal efficiency.

View CMB Series

ADD vs HPD

HPD is a motor-driven high-pressure dosing and plunger family for precise higher-pressure duty. ADD is air-operated and better suited to broad fluid compatibility with lower pressure and sealless operation.

View HPD Series

ADD vs PCS

PCS provides motor-driven progressive cavity transfer for very high viscosity and smoother flow. ADD is the air-operated option where compressed air is available and sealless operation is critical.

View PCS Series

ADD vs LBX

LBX is a motor-driven hygienic lobe pump. ADD remains the better fit where no electricity is desired at the pump or where portable sealless food-duty transfer is required.
